What an AI visibility check tells you
Citations vs. mentions
This check counts citations: answers that link to your domain as a source. That's the clearest signal an engine trusts your pages. A brand can also be mentioned without a link — aeotime tracks both for your own prompts.
Why engines disagree
ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI features retrieve from different indexes and weigh sources differently. Cited on Google's AI Overviews but absent from ChatGPT usually points to your presence on the third-party pages ChatGPT reads, not to your own site. See how ChatGPT picks its sources.
Fix the basics first

How does the AI visibility checker work?+
It looks up your domain in SE Ranking's AI search data set, which records the answers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini gave to a large set of real prompts, and counts the prompts whose answers link to your site. It also reads your robots.txt and llms.txt live.
Why does my site show zero prompts?+
The data set covers popular prompts in the US. Smaller or newer sites often aren't cited in those yet, or are cited for prompts outside the set. Tracking your own prompts in aeotime shows visibility for the questions your buyers actually ask.
How is the score calculated?+
Mostly breadth — how many of the five engines cite you at all — then depth, the number of prompts citing you on each engine, on a logarithmic scale. It's a quick snapshot, not a replacement for tracking your own prompts over time.
Is it really free?+
Yes, a few checks per day with no signup. Results are cached for two weeks. Each report shows when the underlying data set was collected; for up-to-date answers to your own prompts, use aeotime tracking.
